Starting a catering company
71You want to enter the world of catering, but you do not know where to start or begin. Well, with this hub you will be able to know whether you are ready for the world of catering.
Experience
Do you have experience in the world of catering? I would advise anyone who is planning to enter in a new field is to be apart someone who has been in the business for years, as the result of this you will know all the ticks and the tread of the business. You will know how to deal with different situations when it comes to catering. I think at least three to five years would be great for someone who has no idea of the catering business.
Time
Do you have the time to start your catering business? If you have kids and a husband it is going to be hard to juggle your house hold with your new catering company. You are going to have to treat your catering company like a new born baby that needs lots of attention and stuff. I think it would be great and also wise if you have a partner.
Choosing a partner
Taking on a partner is something you have to think long and hard because you both are going to share the business. You, two must try and figure out how both of you are going to split the responsibility of the catering business evenly. What does your partner brings to the table? That is something you are going to have to think of when you are choosing a partner. May be she or he has been a chef for three years and have the experience of running or working in a restaurant. You must also know what you bring in the company; maybe you are more financial and more orderly. Both of you must know what all of you bring to the table. You’ll must take time to give make a list of what is expected of each other and what jobs you and your partner must do. You and your partner must not have outrages expectations for your starting up company, take things nice and slow and soon your company will rise up.
Money
For every company you need to dip in your pocket and take some money out to start a company, unless your family is rich you are going to have saved or take a loan. I would highly suggest that you save or you take small amount money in your savings. Do not take a loan, at least not yet. The reason why I am opposing taking a loan is because you are starting and no one knows you yet and you are not sure whether your company will make it yet, Fact; business tend to fail in the first two years, I think you should at least hold on the lending money from the bank.
Advertising
Like all businesses you must advertise in order for people to know what services you are providing. Advertising should be one of the main things you must be doing. This is something you and your partner should always be looking for, on how to spread your company’s name out their. Here is a list of places and things you can do for advertising.

Business cards
A business card is something you will have to do. Creating a business card is not hard at all, all you have to do is to buy hard computer paper and you are good to go. Your business card should have your company’s name, the service you provide, your head office location, contact information, website, company’s logo, company’s fan page and the name of the person to ask for. Your business card is something you should take time to create and with time you will make a beautiful business card.
Things
needed for your catering company
If you do not have any money at all for your company, you can always start in your house and until you guys are known in your neighborhood and the catering world, you can upgrade to having your own catering store. Here is a list of type of equipment you will need to start your catering business.
1. Cooking equipment
2. Cookware

4. Tableware
5. Glassware
6. Baking utensils
7. Cooking utensils

These types of catering equipments are things you are going to eventually going to have to buy for your company. I would advise you to save every cent you get from your company to buy this equipment. Wholesale catering equipment, second hand catering equipment and brand new catering equipment, I would advise that you mix them up, you can buy some equipment wholesale, some second hand and some brand new. That way you can use the rest of the money on getting your company up and running your catering company.
Final thought
